Regional Equity Atlas 2.0 - FAQ 

 

Q: Who developed the Regional Equity Atlas 2.0?

A: The Regional Equity Atlas 2.0 was a collaborative effort. The Coalition for a Livable Future managed the project, led the stakeholder engagement and research process, and developed the analysis. Metro’s Data Resource Center designed and developed the mapping tool, Portland State University’s Institute for Portland Metropolitan Studies provided research and methodological support and prepared the data to be mapped.

Q:Where did the data in the Equity Atlas mapping tool come from?

A: Information on all the data in the Equity Atlas mapping tool is available here. This page provides indicator descriptions, data sources and dates, and information on data limitations. It also includes links to additional spreadsheets that can be downloaded for further analysis as well as other relevant explanatory documentation.

Q: Can I download the data in the Equity Atlas mapping tool?

A: Yes! Just go to this page, find the data that you are looking for and then click the “Link to Data” link.

Q: Is there a tutorial or user guide available for the Equity Atlas mapping tool?

A: Yes! To download a user guide or view a series of online tutorials on how to use the Equity Atlas mapping tool, visit this page.

Q: If I am experiencing technical difficulties with the Equity Atlas mapping tool, who can I contact?

A: To receive assistance on the Equity Atlas mapping tool, please fill out an inquiry form located here. We will respond as quickly as we can.

Q: Can I download shapefiles from the Equity Atlas mapping tool?

A: The Equity Atlas mapping tool currently does not enable users to download shapefiles.

Q: Can I upload my own data into the Equity Atlas mapping tool?

A: The Equity Atlas mapping tool does not enable users to upload their own data into the tool. If you are interested in combining the Equity Atlas data with other data to create your own maps, you can download the raw data into a GIS program and then combine it with your data in the GIS program.

Q: If I have data that I would like see added to the Equity Atlas, is this possible?

A: If the data supports the Equity Atlas project goals, we would be happy to discuss the possibility of adding the data to the tool. Q: Does the Coalition for a Livable Future offer customized maps, statistical analysis, equity analysis, or trainings?

A: Yes! You can contract with us to create customized maps, provide statistical analysis based on the Equity Atlas data, assess equity conditions and considerations, or host a technical training on the Equity Atlas mapping tool. Q: Can the Equity Atlas mapping tool run on a mobile device?

A: Unfortunately, it cannot. The Equity Atlas mapping tool uses software that only operates on desktop computers.

Q: How frequently will the data in the Equity Atlas be updated?

A: We recognize the importance of keeping the data in the Equity Atlas as current and up to date as possible. Doing so will require ongoing resources and capacity. We are currently working with our partners to develop a strategy for future data updates and to secure the necessary resources.

Q: Would a Coalition for a Livable Future representative be willing to speak to my group/organization about the Equity Atlas?
