A fundamental prerequisite for an equitable society is that all children – regardless of income, race, neighborhood, or other factors – have access to a quality education. In an equitable region, the quality of education that a student receives should be equally high in all of the region’s schools.
The Education Map Series examines important differences among public schools in our region and how these differences relate to access to quality education. The maps document the locations of the region’s public schools and the racial, ethnic, and income composition of the schools. The maps then analyze how school achievement and graduation rates vary by school, and how these variations relate to the demographics of the schools and the neighborhoods in which they are located.
