Staff

Because the majority of our policy work is carried out by our members, CLF maintains a small staff to coordinate the coalition.

Ron Carley,  Executive Director, ron@clfuture.org
Ron joined the CLF staff in 2007 after serving as a founding steering committee member and board member since 1994. Prior to joining the staff, Ron worked for the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services where he oversaw a stormwater management grants program. For 12 years, he worked for the Audubon Society of Portland as its Urban Conservationist.

Mara Gross, Policy Director, mara@clfuture.org

Mara has more than a decade of political and social policy advocacy experience, and has practiced law in the nonprofit, government and private sectors.  Much of her work at Coalition for a Livable Future focuses on multi-sector advocacy and coalition building, including promoting smart, equitable transportation policy.  Mara is a graduate of UC Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall, and of Wellesley College.

Kathy Hammock, Office Manager, kathy@clfuture.org

Kathy's background is in non-profit community health, where she had the honor of serving as the director of a non-profit health clinic for many years.  In addition to her work with CLF, she is studying Spanish and volunteering to help Vancouver second graders learn to read and facilitate a Multnomah County Library conversation session for English language learners in east county.

Irene Schwoeffermann, Program Coordinator, irene@clfuture.org
Irene recently returned to the Portland region from Washington, DC, where she worked for national non-profit organizations and on Capitol Hill. A graduate of Howard University, Irene's personal and professional experience includes community activism, electoral mobilization, public policy and political strategy. In addition to working at CLF, Irene is a member of the Portland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she assists with the June Key Delta Community Center.
